04/2025 - Veterans' Benefits and Services - The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity has released their Veterans' Benefits and Services notice. A new law requires businesses that employ one or more employees to display a veteran’s resource poster in a conspicuous place accessible to all their employees.
03/2025 - Earned Sick Time Act - The Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Opportunity Wage and Hour Division has updated their Earned Sick Time Act notice. The updated notice reflects a new law that revises the definition of a small business from fewer than 10 employees to 10 or fewer employees. In addition, the updated notice includes new information that employers may cap usage and carryover of accrued paid leave at 72 hours per year, or 40 hours per year if they are a small business, and allows newly hired employees to be subject to a 120-day wait period to use accrued earned sick time.
03/2025 - Minimum Wage - The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity has updated their Minimum Wage notice. The updated notice reflects an adjustment of the state minimum wage to $13.73/hour, effective January 1, 2026, and to $15.00/hour, effective January 1, 2027. The new law also increases the tipped minimum hourly wage from the current 38% to 50% by January 1, 2031.
